GrindsWorld Tutor: Liam Hallinan

Hi, I'm Liam. I'm currently pursuing a PhD in Engineering at the University of Cambridge. I've completed undergraduate degrees in Theoretical Physics at Trinity College Dublin (First Class Honours, graduating in 2015) and a Master's degree in Energy Technologies at the University of Cambridge (Distinction grade, completed in 2021). Between my undergraduate degree and my Master's degree, I worked in consulting and tech.

I achieved 7 Higher Level A1s in the Leaving Certificate 2011 and have received numerous scholarships and awards over my time in education (Naughton Foundation Scholarship in 2011, Trinity Foundation Scholarship in 2013, Trinity Gold Medal in 2015, George Moore Scholarship in 2020, Cambridge Examiner's Prize 2021).

I have tutored students in Leaving Cert Maths and Physics, and Junior Cert Maths, Science and French. My approach relies on helping students build up the abstract thinking required for subjects such as Maths and Science by using worked examples and clear, relatable notes. I aim to work with the student at their own pace, only moving onto a new topic when the student feels comfortable.

As I'm currently based in the UK, I'll be looking to tutor remotely through 1-on-1 or group online lessons.
