Currently studying MA Linguistics and Applied Linguistics in UCD (2023/2024). Graduated English Studies (2018/2022) in Universidad de Salamanca (Spain). Two years experience as a Spanish teacher in secondary schools in co. Wicklow. Vast experience with one-to-one classes, considering the aims and previous knowledge of the student. I am a cheerful teacher, with vast experience and a more than remarkable willingness to help and to make students appreciate the language.
Teaching experience:
- 6 years as an English teacher in Spain (formal and informal education settings)
- 2 years as a Spanish teacher in a secondary school. Mostly in charge of oral work with 6th years, writing workshops and general support for LC. I taught 1st to 6th years.
I offer a holistic approach to the language, mostly based on the student's experience, identity and ideologies. I try to make it student-centered, offering the tools for self-expression and the idea of using the language to convey meaning. Within the academic sphere, I try to offer a safe space, eliminating language anxiety to promote learning, also trying to set simple rules and ideas to keep building new concepts and structures. I always try to give as much information as required, presented in an objective and helpful way, contrasting grammars and vocabulary with English. I am also learning Irish to help me detect common mistakes within students, to assess their linguistic origin and offer solutions and alternatives.
