Hi guys! My name is Ellen and I am a qualified Junior Cycle Science and Leaving Certificate Biology Teacher. I have a BSc Honours Physiology degree and a Professional Master of Education.
I have extensive knowledge of the Biology course and exam and can help prepare students for the Leaving Cert at both Higher and Ordinary Level and Junior Cycle Science exam. I also sat the Leaving Certificate Biology exam at Higher Level myself so I know how it feels! I am here to make it feel less daunting and to help you succeed!
I have corrected State Exams at both Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate levels, so I am familiar with the marking schemes and what examiners look for in your answers. I have provided grinds and helped students who were struggling to pass to exceed their goals as well as helping students to achieve H1s.
My grinds are very exam-focused and include an overview and breakdown of the topics on the Biology Syllabus. I ensure my students are aware of the layout of the paper and how marks are awarded. We go through the past exams and pre/mock papers and use the marking schemes to show students what is expected in the exam.
Grinds are conducted online via Zoom and last one hour. I provide PDF notes on each topic covered which I email on afterwards.

- Sep 2023 Paul Darcy Ellen was a fantastic help with Biology higher level grinds. Without doubt she helped to increase the understanding of the subject and subsequently was one of the main reasons that the required grade was achieved. All grinds were arranged well in advance and at a time to suit everyone and always done as arranged. If any student needs substantial help or just that extra little push I would have no hesitation in recommending Ellen
