GrindsWorld Tutor: Liam

Hi there! My name is Liam! I recently completed my BSc in Physics & Mathematical Sciences, in UCC, receiving a First Class Honours grade. I am currently undertaking a MSc in Mathematics specialising in Mathematical Physics. In my Leaving Certificate exams, I achieved an A1 in higher level Mathematics and an A2 in higher level Physics. I also achieved an A grade in Junior Certificate Science. I have a passion for teaching others and will always go above and beyond to help my students.

I have several years experience tutoring at Junior Certificate, Leaving Certificate and University levels in both Maths and Physics. I was also employed by University College Cork as a Lead Laboratory Demonstrator for first year physics students for the past two years.

Every student is different and learns differently, which is why I believe it is important to adapt my teaching methods to suit the needs of the individual I am tutoring.
Understanding in all mathematics and science subjects comes from lots of discussion and asking questions. For this reason, I like to focus my lessons on clear communication to foster a calm and effective learning environment in which the student always feels confident to ask questions.

Typically, at the beginning of each lesson, we will correct and discuss the homework assigned in the previous week. This ensures that the student has an in depth understanding of all aspects of material covered in the previous grind before moving on. We will then focus on new material for the remainder of the lesson. This may be revision of material that the student has covered in class that week, or perhaps a different topic that the student finds particularly difficult. At the end of the lesson, I will provide homework for the student to complete before our next meeting.
